DOMINICAN REPUBLIC:  NO PASSPORT REQUIRED

While many sun destinations require that Canadians have passports, the Dominican Republic is hoping to become the most accessible Caribbean country for Canadians and will maintain its current entry requirements, which do not require a passport. “Dominican Republic receives more than 800,000 Canadian visitors annually, so it is important that we remain accessible to one of our largest markets,” says Susana Rosa, director of the DR’s Quebec tourism office. Under the current entry regulations, Canadians are only required to possess valid official photo identification (such as a driver’s license) and proof of citizenship (such as a birth certificate). For stopovers in the US, a passport is required. (http://www.GoDominicanRepublic.com)
