Full review . . .

January 2009, we headed to Mexico as a group of 4 to party hard in Cancun , Mexico . We traveled with Sunquest that had us on the Skyservice Airline – I think they chose the name “Skyservice” because the sky is the only place you actually get any kind of service. Let’s just say after many delays, lack of communication, assigning one seat to two people and splitting up groups for no reason, I will NEVER fly with Skyservice again – EVER!!!

The hotel greatly made up for this mistake. We had originally booked with Oasis Palm Beach along the hotel zone of Cancun, but they gladly upgraded us to the five star, adults only resort with the ocean view suites. The hotel was gorgeous and our rooms had a personal hot tub on the balcony!! The staff is so courteous and helpful, making our stay a pleasure. The food has its moments of awesome but if you decide to stay here - avoid anything with white sauce! Instead of sour cream or alfredo sauce, they used yogurt to cook anything – noodles, tacos, potato salad…but once you figured it out, you could eat well. But get a good lunch in, because between the hours of 4-6:30, nothing is open for eating. Your wristband gets you into any of the Oasis Hotels along the strip (4 in total), but we didn’t get to see the others.

We kept really busy while we were there, so we didn’t spend very much time on the resort. We rented a jeep to take our own day trips. We went to Tulum, a cenotes park called Hidden Worlds (www.hiddenworlds.com) and Chichen Itza . Then we used a company called Jungle Tours (across from the Grand Oasis Cancun) and did a day of barracuda fishing, snorkeling, and we visited the Isla Mujeres. There is so much to do along the strip and it’s designed for tourists so it is so easy to spend money too. There is tons of shopping, and pretty much anything you want, you can get…anything! But it can be overwhelming when you are literally swarmed by vendors pushing to sell you what they have.

The night entertainment was pretty tame on our resort, but the Grand Oasis Cancun had a big disco that offered a lot every night and it’s only a five minute bus ride down the road.

This resort was beautiful and very relaxing. I recommend it to couples without children, or groups that want a peaceful resort. If you are interested in the party life, head down the road to the Grand Oasis Cancun. And one lesson we learned after our vehicle rental – always keep $40 in your pocket to pay off the police. We were pulled over by as police officer that charged us $180US for going 20 over the speed limit which we had to pay for in cash on the spot…yes, we were ripped off!!!
