Option 1: Buy one or more individual plug/outlet adapters so that you can plug in to the wall outlets in St. Lucia

This is the primary outlet type used in St. LuciaBased on the information at our disposal, the outlet you are most likely to find in St. Lucia is the British BS-1363 wall outlet pictured to the left.

Use this travel adapter to adapt your plug for use with this type of wall outlet in St. Lucia:

This is the travel adapter (plug/outlet adapter) for the primary outlet type used in St. LuciaUniversal Grounded AC Power Adapter for the United Kingdom / St. Lucia (British BS 1363 Plug)

This travel adapter will accept your appliance's plug and convert it to the primary outlet type used in St. Lucia. Now you can plug in.

Tip: Be sure to buy a separate travel adapter for each appliance you plan to use at the same time.

Option 2: Buy a travel kit for St. Lucia. The kit contains the most commonly needed adapters for St. Lucia.

This is a travel adapter kit for St. LuciaInternational Travel Adapter Kit -- U.S. to the United Kingdom (UK)

This travel adapter kit contains a grounded adapter for the British BS-1363 outlet type, and a non-grounded adapter for the British BS-1363 outlet. The kit also includes a phone/fax/modem adapter for the United Kingdom (although in St. Lucia, you may not need the hpone adapter) and a reverse polarity phone couple which is sometimes needed. All adapters come in a convenient carrying case.

Next Step: Buy a step-down transformer to convert the 240 volt electricity in St. Lucia to a voltage your appliance accepts.

Electrical Specifications in St. Lucia:

Voltage: 240 Volts
(U.S. voltage is 110-120 volts)

Frequency: 50 Hz
(U.S. frequency is 60 Hz)

Travel adapters will allow you to plug in, but they do not modify the electricity at all. Your appliance may or may not accept the electricity supplied in St. Lucia as-is. The voltage supplied may need to be modified so that your appliance can use it.

If the appliance you're bringing to St. Lucia is a laptop/notebook computer or some other "high tech" electronic device, it was probably built to support multiple voltages. In that case, all you need is a travel adapter. The appliance will adjust to the 240 volt electricity in St. Lucia automatically (or, in the case of a desktop PC, you may have to flip a switch.)

Kitchen and bath appliances (shavers, hair dryers, electric blankets, coffee makers, etc.) usually only accept a single voltage. For U.S. and Canadian appliances, that voltage is between 110-120 volts. A step-down transformer is needed to convert the 240 volt electricity in St. Lucia to 110-120 volts.

  • Plug the travel adapter into the wall outlet in St. Lucia
  • Plug the step-down transformer into the travel adapter
  • Plug your appliance into the outlet on the step-down transformer

And that's it! You are now ready to use your appliance in St. Lucia.
