DAY 2: St. John’s, Newfoundland

Today you will be taken on a guided tour of historic St. John’s, one of the oldest communities in North America. We will visit Signal Hill, view the “narrows”, admire the architecture of old St. John’s, visit the Basilica and the Anglican Cathedral -- the oldest Anglican parish in North America dating back to 1699. This afternoon will be free for you to shop or do some further sightseeing on your own. One new attraction that you might

consider is the Geological Centre that details rock formations, visible across the province. (B)

DAY 3: St. John’s, Newfoundland

This morning we include a Boat Cruise to the Bird Island Sanctuary. This afternoon we’re off to Cape Spear. This National Historic Park was officially opened by Prince Charles and Princess Diana in 1983 and is the most easterly point in North America. (B)

DAY 4: Conception Bay/Clarenville, NF

Today we leave the Avalon Peninsula, travel through Clarenville, and journey onto the Bonavista Peninsula. The drive is referred to as the “Discovery Trail” and the sightseeing is amazing. You’ll visit the Bonavista Lighthouse and tour the Ryan Premises, a

National Historic Site. In June & early July this will also be a great spot to view Icebergs! Tonight we return to Clarenville, on the edge of Terra Nova National Park. (B,L)

DAY 5: Terra Nova Park/Gander, NF

We will visit Trinity this morning to stroll through the quiet lanes of the peaceful, historic and most picturesque village. We will also board a boat for a guided tour of a real working Mussel Farm, and learn about the growing industry of Aquaculture. Then in the afternoon we will visit Terra Nova National Park enroute to overnight accomodation in Gander, the Crossroads of the World. (B,L)

DAY 6: Twillingate/Grand Falls, NF

Today we’ll travel to the coast, where true Newfoundland lifestyle and culture are found in the many fishing villages along

our route. Lunch is included today, along with a local theatre that will provide some insight into Newfoundland’s history. Then on to the “Road to the Isles” to visit a fishing family, passing by such places as “Virgin Arm”, “Herring Neck”, and on to Twillingate. Corner Brook is Newfoundland’s second largest city and is the site of the island’s first industrial sawmill and one of the world’s largest pulp and paper mills. Tonight our accommodations are in Corner Brook, along with Dinner together as a group. (B,D)
