DAY 1:
St. John’s, Newfoundland
Join our group today at
Pearson International Airport.
Our flight eastward will take us to Newfoundland. Here our Tour Director
will welcome the group to Newfoundland. A short ride aboard the motor coach
will take us to our downtown St. John’s Hotel. Tonight you will enjoy a
welcome dinner and an opportunity to get acquainted with your fellow
travellers. (D)
DAY 2:
St. John’s, Newfoundland
Today you will be taken on a
guided tour of historic St. John’s, one of the oldest communities in North
America. We will visit Signal Hill, view the “narrows”, admire the
architecture of old St. John’s, visit the Basilica and the Anglican
Cathedral -- the oldest Anglican parish in North America dating back to
1699. This afternoon will be free for you to shop or do some further
sightseeing on your own. One new attraction that you might
consider is the Geological Centre
that details rock formations, visible across the province. (B)
DAY 3:
St. John’s, Newfoundland
This morning we include a Boat
Cruise to the Bird Island Sanctuary. This afternoon we’re off to Cape Spear.
This National Historic Park was officially opened by Prince Charles and
Princess Diana in 1983 and is the most easterly point in North America. (B)
DAY 4:
Conception Bay/Clarenville, NF
Today we leave the Avalon
Peninsula, travel through Clarenville, and journey onto the Bonavista
Peninsula. The drive is referred to as the “Discovery Trail” and the
sightseeing is amazing. You’ll visit the Bonavista Lighthouse and tour the
Ryan Premises, a
National Historic Site. In June &
early July this will also be a great spot to view Icebergs! Tonight we
return to Clarenville, on the edge of Terra Nova National Park. (B,L) |

DAY 5:
Terra Nova Park/Gander, NF
We will visit Trinity
this morning to stroll through the quiet lanes of the peaceful,
historic and most picturesque village. We will also board a boat for
a guided tour of a real working Mussel Farm, and learn about the
growing industry of Aquaculture. Then in the afternoon we will visit
Terra Nova National Park enroute to overnight accomodation in
Gander, the Crossroads of the World. (B,L)
DAY 6:
Twillingate/Grand Falls, NF
Today we’ll travel to the
coast, where true Newfoundland lifestyle and culture are found in
the many fishing villages along
our route. Lunch is
included today, along with a local theatre that will provide some
insight into Newfoundland’s history. Then on to the “Road to the
Isles” to visit a fishing family, passing by such places as “Virgin
Arm”, “Herring Neck”, and on to Twillingate. At the Prime Berth
Fishing Centre you will learn all about Newfoundland Fishing of
yesterday and today. This afternoon, a stop at Boyds
Cove and a visit to the
Beothuk Interpretation Centre. Continue on to overnight in Grand
Falls. (B,L)
DAY 7:
Corner Brook, Newfoundland
This morning we visit the
Salmon Interpretation Centre and learn about the life-cycle of this
very popular fish. Then we travel to Corner Brook, Newfoundland’s
most westerly city. Corner Brook is Newfoundland’s second largest
city and is the site of the island’s first industrial sawmill and
one of the world’s largest pulp and paper mills. Tonight our
accommodations are in Corner Brook, along with Dinner together as a
group. (B,D)
DAY 8:
Home
After Breakfast our
Newfoundland Adventure comes to an end, as our shuttle takes us to
the Deer Lake Airport, to board our return flights home. (B) |
